Located on Glades Road in Gatlinburg, inside the Covered Bridge In The Glades (849 Glades Road), Custom Creations By Beth is a cozy county store filled with home décor and lots of unique, handmade items ranging from paintings to lawn decorations to floral arrangements.Black Bear Lawn Decoration

“At Custom Creations, we try to refurbish and reuse antiques within several of our products,” said Beth Pittser, artist and owner of Custom Creations. “You might say recycling is on our minds.

“I started creating when I was just 3-years-old. My dad would sit me on his lap at his art table and let me paint or draw whatever I wanted. Today, I have started my own small business, and I still get a rush of excitement when I create new ideas. I have developed a style of painting uniquely my own.”

Custom Creations By Beth has participated in numerous fall and holiday festivals over the years, including the Unicoi County Apple Festival and the On Cosby Festival. It was formally located in a small studio in Cosby, but is now in its new location in the Glades. Custom Creations opened the location on July 4.

In the store, you will find an abundance of crafts in a rustic setting. When Pittser is in the shop, visitors can find her creating new grapevine wreaths or painting lawn decorations.

Antique WindowAmongst the crafts, you will find lawn decorations ranging from scarecrows, turkeys, snowmen, black bears, pumpkins, candy corn, and apples. You will also find grapevine wreaths, table displays, wall hangings, antique windows, and White Birch Christmas ornaments. Rick also has his turned wood bowls and vases on display. And this is only some of the items you will find.

“Our floral arrangements consist mostly of silk flowers,” said Pittser. “We incorporate antiques into the arrangements, at times, to give it that one-of-a-kind look. Our antique windows are painted with seasonal or country settings. We use acrylic paints on all of our items, and every painted item is coated with a weather-proof sealant so you are able to display them outside.”

Every item is hand-made and no two are alike. Due to the nature of the business, quantities are limited. However, Pittser said she does take special orders if you would like an item that is sold out, such as a pumpkin or a specially worded wooden sign or even a black bear.

“I can also customize your family heirlooms or personal treasures,” said Pittser.

Custom Creations By Beth is open Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store accepts major credit cards, checks, and cash.
