SEVIERVILLE—The Tennessee Museum of Aviation, in Sevierville will be featured on the History Channel’s H2 Network show “Museum Men” on January 3, 2015 at 10pm EST. The show’s team of highly skilled builders bring history to life in each episode. For the Tennessee Museum of Aviation, the team recreated the Skycycle X-2, ridden by Evel Knievel during his failed attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in Idaho on September 8, 1974.
The Tennessee Museum of Aviation Operations Coordinator, Rhonda Melton, says the display is a great addition to the museum. “We just opened a section that highlights the role of aviation in entertainment called Hollywood Behind the Scenes in Aviation,” she says. “We’ve got motion picture set cockpits that were used in television shows and movies including ‘It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World,’, ‘In Harm’s Way,’ ‘The A-Team’ and more. Because Evel Knievel was also an entertainer, I think it’s a great addition to that section and the museum as a whole.”
The Tennessee Museum of Aviation is Tennessee’s official repository and archive for aviation history and features warbird aircraft from WWII through Vietnam. Learn more at www.tnairmuseum.com
