Lumberjack Feud kicks off Christmas season

the double buck competition

The double buck competition is one of 18 competitions at the Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud.

The feuding Dawsons and McGraws are at it again. The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud has kicked off the Christmas season with a new Christmas show featuring the lumberjacks and lumberjills in an intense rivalry.

Santa has sent his best elf to the Great Smoky Mountains in search of the perfect Christmas tree. Little does he know that the best tree lies right in the middle of McGraw territory and Dawson country. The two families begin fighting over who has rights to the tree the wayward elf has found. To get a special Christmas wish the two families agree to compete in a full scale competition in a series of 18 timberjack events featuring professional lumberjacks competing in a winner take all contest.

The ESPN timberjacks have competed in numerous competitions across the nation. In addition to the timber athletes, world champion timber dogs compete in two events.

A traditional holiday meal of oven roasted turkey, baked ham, fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy, homestyle stuffing, buttered tri-colored corn, fresh rolls, and cobbler is served in a 1930s style mess kit used by lumberjacks in the days prior to the opening of the national park in the Smokies.

The pre-show features a live performance by the award winning bluegrass band, the Mountain Jacks. The band plays a show full of the sounds of a Smoky Mountain Christmas.

The Christmas show will run through January 4th, 2015. For more information call  865-428-8688.
