In a recent interview with Variety, for his new film “The Judge,” “Iron Man” and “The Avengers” star Robert Downey Jr. denied rumors that a fourth film in the “Iron Man” series was in development. Downey Jr. Is quoted as saying. “There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man’.”
Downey Jr. is still signed on to reprise his role as Tony Stark in the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as well as an as of yet untitled third film in the “Avengers” series.
Variety then asked Downey Jr. whether or not he would let someone else take over his role as the genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist, which was met by laughter from the actor. “I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel.” Downey Jr. was quoted as saying.
So it now appears, that at least for the foreseeable future, the only place we will be seeing Tony Stark is in “Avengers” films, but even if the “Iron Man” series is over, with three movies already under the characters belt, fans should easily be able to look back and see Downey Jr.’s critically acclaimed portrayal whenever they desire.
