3p bbq picnic in pittmanKODAK (press release)—Friends of the Smokies is hosting the 17th Annual Picnic in Pittman for the Park on Friday, May 8th at 6:00pm. The 3P BBQ, co-hosted by Phillip & Vicky Fulmer and Jim Ogle, raises money in support of education, historic preservation, wildlife management programs and more in Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP).

The 3P BBQ is an evening of fun and festivities with current University of Tennessee football and basketball coaches and a spirited live auction led by Steve Caldwell and Dan Brooks, coaches of the 1998 National Champion Tennessee Volunteers. Attendees can enjoy a barbecue buffet provided by Holston’s Kitchen and top-shelf margaritas.

“It’s a pleasure to have such great people from all over East Tennessee come out to help Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This event has a proud history of supporting the Smokies with funds for trail reconstruction, hemlock treatment, and construction of the Greenbrier Picnic Pavilion,” said Jim Ogle, Friends of the Smokies board member and co-host of the 3P BBQ.

Over its 16-year history, Friends of the Smokies’ special fundraising event in Pittman Center, Tenn. has generated more than $1 million from donations, ticket sales, live and silent auctions, and event sponsorships to benefit GSMNP. Tickets are $125 and must be purchased in advance. For more information, visit www.friendsofthesmokies.org or contact Lauren Gass at 865-932-4794.
