The Dolly Parton statue, located on the Sevier County Courthouse lawn at 125 Court Ave., Sevierville, was recently awarded a 2015 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
The award is based on the quality of reviews and opinions earned on TripAdvisor in the past year. The statue received a rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5.
The statue was dedicated on May 2, 1987. It was designed by local artist Jim Gray, who created a statue of Dolly that would capture the wonder of this young woman before her move to Nashville when she was still a member of this small Smoky Mountain community. It has become a popular stop for many people visiting the area.
A native of Sevierville, Dolly Parton is an internationally-known singer, songwriter, actress, instrumentalist, author and philanthropist. She is the owner of Dollywood theme park, located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which hosts more than 3 million visitors a year.
