Spring is finally here and that can mean only one thing: it’s Rod Run time in Tennessee! During the off-season, many car enthusiasts spend their time tearing down their show cars and prepping them for the upcoming year. This could mean anything from full-on restorations to new accessories for their already finely tuned machine. These showgoers are always excited to unveil their masterpieces at the first large show of the season. In this case, it’s the Pigeon Forge Spring Rod Run held at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge.
For over 30 years, Rod Run has been an iconic event that has taken place in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. We are proud that it is once again taking place in our fun-loving community. For the 2015 event, there will be a few new events, such as the “ScottieD Dirty Dozen.” ScottieD is a YouTube sensation that’s all about cars and this year he will be selecting his personal favorite twelve rides at the show. There will also be a Top 25 award given out to the top contenders at the show, as well as the Ultimate 5 for the most prestigious of the pack and $8,000 up for grabs by contestants. Rod run part pickers will be glad to know that the vendor area will be double the size from last year as the vendor area will be in the larger adjacent parking lot rather than the smaller one.
Due to construction, the official ET Motorgear T-shirt trailer, which is usually based at traffic light 6, will be moved 100 yards east of its usual location and positioned in front of China Bazaar (in between Marathon Gas Station and Tennessee State Bank). Be sure to stop by and grab your official Pigeon Forge Rod Run swag.
If all of this sounds like fun, but you’re worried about finding the perfect parking place, worry no more! There will be a huge parking area in between the event site and The Island. And to make it even more convenient, there will be a trolley running between the parking areas, the show and back to The Island.
The 2015 Pigeon Forge Spring Rod Run will take place Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the award ceremony taking place at 5:00 p.m. Also, go ahead and mark your calendars for the fall shows, the Shades of the Past show will take place on September 11-12, 2015, while the Pigeon Forge Fall Rod Run will be on September 17-19, 2015. The fall shows are often described by many as two weeks of Hot Rod Fun. The Rod Runs have become a benchmark of our community, please come out and show your support.
