There are several charities in Sevier County that collect food and supplies to help the needy families that live in the area. However, it’s a different story when it comes to animals. Chrystal Gillis, co-owner of Sevier Vapor in Sevierville, Tenn., noticed there isn’t a lot of help given to animal organizations, such as the Sevier County Humane Society and Pets Without Parents. She decided to put up a donation box in her store on Highway 66 to help supply animal charities with the goods they need.

“I’m an animal lover. Animals are my passion. I always see donations to help humans and thought I’d do something to help animals. All of my children have four legs. I have five dogs and one cat,” Gillis said. She also noted that she was in the veterinary world for over 10 years and wants nothing more than to help animals in any way possible, just as she wants to help people quit smoking.

Sevier Vapor will be doing a raffle for new vape juice and supplies for those that donate. “When one donates, they will receive a raffle ticket for our upcoming Summer Block party where we will be having raffles, bands and food. Please support this worthy charity,” she said.

All of the goods donated will benefit either Pets Without Parents or the Sevier County Humane Society. Sevier Vapor will not accept any cash donations. Please bring the supplies listed below. If one wishes to donate cash, please donate it directly to the organization that you choose.

Pets Without Parents rescues animals from deplorable situations where basic medical, nutritional, sanitary and emotional needs are not met. They are a volunteer organization that relies on the generosity of others to meet their needs. Pets Without Parents currently needs the following:

  • Pedigree dry and wet canned food
  • Dry cat food
  • Bleach
  • Laundry detergent
  • Pine-Sol
  • Dishwasher Soap
  • Paper towels
  • Dog treats

The Sevier County Humane Society is a private non-profit organization operating primarily on donations and community support. All contributions are appreciated and used to create a safe, healthy and comfortable environment to the animals that come into their care. The current wish list for the Humane Society is:

  • Purina dry dog and puppy food
  • Cat and kitten chow dry food
  • Pedigree or Purina canned cat and dog food
  • Cat litter
  • Milk bones
  • Bleach
  • Laundry/dish detergent
  • Paper towels
  • Latex gloves (medium)
  • Catnip / Tennis balls / Kong toys
  • Peanut butter

“We’re committed to making a difference in our community. We need your help to make it happen,” stated Gillis. If you would like to make a donation, please visit Sevier Vapor at 1436 Winfield Dunn Parkway in Sevierville, TN.  For more information on the pet donation box or the block party, visit their Facebook page at FB.com/SevierVapor.
