Baron Mayes claimed the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce’s most prestigious membership award—the 2014 Friend of the Year—at the organization’s annual Membership Breakfast. Mayes, who is a marketing consultant at The Thomas Group, earned the most friendship award points throughout 2014 by attending chamber networking events and encouraging new membership.
“Networking is an essential part of any successful business,” says Mayes. “The Sevierville Chamber of Commerce provides one of the best venues to allow local businesses to meet and become friends. I am truly honored to be the recipient of this award and really appreciate the Chamber and all the members.”
As a thank you for his dedication, Mayes received a two-night stay at Wilderness at the Smokies as well as a beautiful trophy courtesy of Sign Master.
“Baron is heavily involved,” says membership coordinator Jim McGill. “The amount of networking that he is able to accomplish through his chamber involvement really helps his company as he’s always making new connections and setting up new accounts with businesses he meets here.”
“Members like Baron make this organization strong,” says Sevierville Chamber of Commerce CEO Brenda McCroskey. “He understands the value of the networking provided by our organization and, more importantly, understands how to make it work for his employer. He is active and involved.”
Sevierville Chamber of Commerce Friendship Awards are based on points accumulated monthly from attending Chamber functions and volunteering as well as bringing inactive members and potential new members to Chamber events. The monthly points go towards determining the Chamber Friend of the Year Award recipient.
The next Chamber Friend of the Year Award will be presented in February 2016. For more information about Sevierville Chamber of Commerce membership, contact Jim McGill at (865) 453-6411.
