Sheriff investigating child’s death

The Sevier County Sheriff’s office is investigating the death of a 16-month-old child that was tragically killed Sunday Sept. 21st.

Deputies were dispatched to 5325 Cocke County Line Rd. by the Cocke Co. Sheriff’s Office. Investigators learned that a 16-month-old child had reportedly been run over by a vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene and Cocke Co. authorities were there who had initially responded but determined that the home was actually in Sevier County.

The Sevier County officers arrived at app. 6:38 p.m. and found the child deceased at the scene. A Sevier County investigator arrived on the scene and the investigation revealed that several family members were working on a tractor in the yard of the home when they asked a 17-year-old relative to move a truck. The driver did not see the child and pulled forward running over the child. The child was identified as Aden C. Ball of the above address. Adults in the home did not realize the child had wandered outside prior to the incident. The Department of Children’s Services is also investigating the incident as well as the Sheriff’s Office. No charges have been filed.
