Tennessee’s Civil War License Plate Deemed a Successful Launch

After more than eight months since the launch, more than a 1000 Civil War license plates are now on Tennessee roads. The Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association has received more than $16,000 in proceeds for battlefield preservation.

The plates commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. A portion of the proceeds is earmarked by the state for the preservation of Civil War sites. Those that purchased the plates can pick them up at their county clerk’s office.

Anyone who would like to still buy one can do so at their local county clerk’s office. The annual specialty plate fee is $35. Almost half of that amount is contributed to the TCWPA.

The Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association has a Facebook group page. For more information about the license plate visit: http://www.tcwpa.org/license-plate or contact TCWPA at info@tcwpa.org.
