It is once again Rod Run time. For those that don’t know what I’m referring to, every fall Pigeon Forge is filled with the hottest show cars in the South. The Pigeon Forge Rod Run is a staple of our community and has been since the 1980s. Each spring and fall, car and truck enthusiasts all over the United States swarm to Pigeon Forge for this monumental event.
This year there will be two celebrity guests: Cristy Lee and Butch Patrick. One might recognize Lee from “All Girls Garage” and the X-Games. There will be a contest where one lucky winner will get to cruise the Pigeon Forge strip with Miss Lee.
Patrick is on a nationwide tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the “The Munsters” television show (1964–1966) and is bringing it to Pigeon Forge. Participants and spectators will be invited to enter a Eddie Munster costume contest at the event. Also on display during the entire event will be two legendary hot rods from “The Munsters,” both The Dragula and The Koach.
Other contests and awards at the show will include a King of the Hill award for those who choose to park outside the convention center, Top 25 overall awards, the Ultimate 5 awards, over $10,000 cash giveaway and door prizes. There will also be a swap meet and plenty of vendors for those that are looking for those hard-to-find parts for their ride or for those who want a souvenir from the event. For those that will be on the Pigeon Forge strip, but not attending the show itself, there will be official Pigeon Forge Rod Run concession trailers placed on the strip selling event T-shirts and wearing apparel.
The Pigeon Forge Rod Run will start on September 17 and ends on September 19 after the awards ceremony. Check out rodrun-pigeonforge.com or call 865-687-3976 for more information.
