Third Annual English Mountain Classic scheduled Oct. 4

NEWPORT (press release)—The Third Annual English Mountain Classic Marching Band Competition will be hosted by the Cocke County High School Red Regiment on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Larry Williams Stadium.

The first band plays at 1 p.m. The CCHS will perform at 7 p.m. and the awards ceremony will follow.

Schools participating in this year’s competition include Gatlinburg-Pittman, Christian Academy of Knoxville, West Greene, Sevier County, Sullivan Central, South Doyle, Greeneville, Knox Carter, Powell and Volunteer.

Admission will be $5, with children younger than kindergarten admitted free.

CCHS Band Director Tyler Dieterich said Eagle Sportz, the t-shirt vendor that sets up and personalizes band shirts, will be on hand.

“We put this event on for the community to see what bands all over East Tennessee are doing,” said Dieterich. “We the community will come out an support these bands and the Red Regiment.”

Concessions that will be available include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chili/cheese hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches and wraps, corn dogs, chicken strips and more.
