Dirt is still flying and concrete is being poured at the intersection of Wears Valley Road and Parkway and the Publix led Valley Forge Shopping Center is slowly becoming believable. Local residents are anxious to have a new place to spend their grocery money.

“Publix Super Markets will strive to become the supermarket of choice for the Pigeon Forge and greater Sevier County community next year,” said Brenda Reid, Media and Community Relations Manager of Publix’s Atlanta Division. “Publix differentiates itself by providing excellent customer service and quality fresh products,” said Reid.

But in the end Publix will be stocking their shelves with many of the same products one can buy at Kroger, Food City and Walmart. “It all depends on the price,” said one local resident. “If I can buy the same product somewhere else cheaper, that’s where I’ll buy it.”

Publix operates more than 1,000 stores across six states in the Southeast. Vacationers who are accustomed to shopping at Publix may continue to do so at the new location. At least Budd Cullom of CHM, LLC, one of the developers for the project, is counting on that. He said, “We love this location and are looking forward to 2016, when we are able to officially open the doors and welcome the residents of Sevier County along with the many visitors who choose to vacation in this area each year.”
