NASHVILLE (press release)—George Jones’ name is at the top of the charts again, but this time it’s not for music. The George Jones White Lightning signature brand of moonshine received highest honors in the 2015 SIP Awards. George Jones White Lightning Apple Pie took home a Platinum Medal for Unaged Flavor Infused Whiskey/Moonshine. The award underscores the high quality of the signature whiskeys, which are available exclusively at the George Jones Museum.

“George always wanted to own his own brand of whiskey,” said Nancy Jones, George’s widow. “This was one of the promises I made to him before he died, that I’d make that dream come true.”

The Spirit International Prestige Awards are held annually and gauge consumer satisfaction with spirits. The SIP Awards rank among the most prestigious awards available for liquor products. They are given annually to the top spirits in the world.

This is the first year George Jones White Lightning entered the competition. It was released in April, when the George Jones Museum, restaurant, event space, and rooftop restaurant first opened.

Leave it to George to win awards not only after his passing but in the category of Moonshine. The recent 2015 SIP Awards, awarded George Jones White Lightning Apple Pie flavored moonshine a Platinum Award for the International Consumer Tasting Competition in California last week.  George Jones White Lightning Moonshine brand was also the highest placing 100 proof entry.  This is a great record since the George Jones White lightning brand was just launched this spring.

You can get the George Jones White Lightning Moonshine and other spirits at the George Jones Museum located downtown Nashville. Tastings are available on site. Look for the George Jones White Lightning brand to launch nationwide later this year.
