Investigation continues in Hercutt death

Sunday, August 3, marked the five year anniversary of the death of Shannon Hercutt, who was the victim of a homicide in Sevier County.

Hercutt’s body was found inside her Cadillac Escalade down an embankment on Walker Trail in the Fox Run resort area around 11:30 p.m. on August 3, 2009. An autopsy revealed that the injuries she sustained was not consistent with an automobile accident and the death was ruled a homicide. The Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation opened an investigation into her death at that time.

Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals maintains that the case has remained open since her death and many leads have been investigated. Seals states that the $25,000 reward from the State of Tennessee remains in effect for anyone having information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her death.

Seals asks that anyone with any information about the case call the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 865-428-1899 or the Tenn. Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
