A routine traffic stop resulted in a drug arrest Wednesday during which police confiscated seven and half ounces of cocaine worth more than $8,000 in street value.
According to reports, George Jose Cantillano, 44, of Pigeon Forge, was stopped on Connor Heights Road for a traffic violation. The stop led officers to Cantillano’s home located a short distance away on W. Mill Creek Road lot #17 where officers discovered cocaine, $1,445 in cash, 12 new cell phones and three stolen flat screen TVs.
Cantillano was arrested and charged with possession of schedule II narcotics for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a valid license. The stolen TVs and cell phones are still under investigation by the sheriff’s office criminal investigation division and Gatlinburg Police Department. Cantillano was arraigned before a magistrate and a $25,000 bond was set. A preliminary hearing date has been set for Feb. 16th in Sevier County General Sessions Court.
