Charles Brahney, age 89 of Gatlinburg, passed away Thursday January 7, 2016.
At the age of 15 years old, Charles entered World War II with the 1st Division of the Marine Corp. He served in the Pacific and fought bravely among his comrades in the most fierce of battles in Guadalcanal and Okinawa. He was also responsible for transporting prisoners to China.
His time in service shaped his life and his values. He would lay down his life for a fellow soldier. “Once a Marine, always a Marine”. Semper Fi
Charles worked as a lineman with the Jersey City Power Company. He was a devoted family man to his loving wife of 70 years, Claire Brahney and loving father to his daughters, Mary Clare, Barbara, Jane and Kathleen. He was grandpa to his 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
As a God loving man and firm believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, we bid you Rest in Peace and we’ll see you in Heaven.
