James Carlisle Smith, age 94 of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016.
Mr. Smith was Lt. Commander in the United States Navy and a veteran of World War II. He received commendations for distinguished service in air sea rescue with 27 night time rescues. He had over 110 flight hours over enemy territory during enemy opposition.
Mr. Smith was a neon sign maker and glass blower.
He was preceded in death by first wife June Smith, father Clarence C. Smith, mother Emma Smith and 3 sisters.
Survivors include his Wife, Dorothy Smith; Daughter, Jolene Cook and husband Leo Cook of TX; Stepdaughter, Jacque Marcus, of CA; Grandchildren, Heather Ballard and James Cook, of TX.
Memorial mass service 11 AM Wed at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pigeon Forge with Father Andres Cano officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:30 PM Thursday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for inurnment. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
