February 17, 1917 – December 12, 2015
Virginia “Dennie” Williams Hochnedel, of Seymour, departed the world she had captured so beautifully on her many canvases on Dec. 12, 2015. Born Feb. 17, 1917 as the fourth of the six Williams sisters, her love of painting and teaching that art endured through the decades. Her impishness, feisty temper and playfully shaken fist will be missed by generations of the clan she raised and knew her always as Dennie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Pearl Gurley Williams; her sisters, Terrell Jackson, Heth Williams, Dorothy Parker, Jean Turner and Frances Corcoran; and her husband, Edwin F. Hochnedel Jr., who she joins in heaven.
She is survived by her son, Edwin Hochnedel III (Knoxville); daughter, Faye Hochnedel-Greenwood and husband ‘Moe’ (Seymour); grandson, Marcus Fitzsimmons and wife Susan (Thompson’s Station); grandson, David Hochnedel and wife Korie (Alcoa); granddaughter, Gretchen Caudill and husband Danny (Alaska); Amanda Lee Coutta and husband Greg (Knoxville); great-grandchild, Katelyn Fraker; and many nieces and nephews.
