Wendell Clay Matthews, age 75 of Sevierville passed away Monday, December 7, 2015. He served his country for 2 years in the military. Wendell is a retired employee of Magnavox after 43 years. He sang with several gospel quartets in our community. Wendell was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband for 51 years, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Wendell was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arlie and Dee Matthews; brother, Jack Matthews; and sister, Brenda Matthews.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Matthews; daughter, Teresa Houk and husband, Kevin Houk; grandchildren, Dustin Perryman and wife, Tiffany Perryman, Adam Houk, Andrew Houk, Kaylyn Perryman, Peyton Shoopman, Ashlynn Shoopman, Abigail Perryman; brothers, Carroll Matthews and wife, Mary Matthews, Blaine Matthews, Malcom Matthews and wife, Carolyn Matthews; special friends, Patsy Atchley and Troy Manning.

The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 7PM in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Reagan and Rev. Bill Stephens officiating.

Interment 11AM Friday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge.
