Softball has 11 players earn SEC Academic Honors

lady volunteersBIRMINGHAM (press release)—The Tennessee softball program had 11 student-athletes receive SEC Academic Honors for the 2014-15 academic year.

On Tuesday, nine of the 12 players eligible (sophomores, juniors, seniors) were named to the 2015 Spring Academic Honor Roll. Annie Aldrete, Gretchen Aucoin, Hannah Devotie, Erin Gabriel, Rainey Gaffin,Megan Geer, Tory Lewis, Haileigh Norris and Lexi Overstreet were among the 75 Tennessee student-athletes to be named to be recognized by the conference for spring academic excellence. The 2015 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2014 Summer, 2014 Fall and 2015 Spring terms.

Meghan Gregg and Lauren Irwin were named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday.

“We are committed to preparing Tennessee softball student-athletes for a lifetime of professional opportunities,” Tennessee co-head coach Karen Weekly said. “Academic excellence is an integral part of that process. Ralph and I are very proud of these young women for their exceptional effort and performance in the classroom.”
