For the third time in his career Carson-Newman quarterback De’Andre Thomas has been named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Thomas set a career high for rushing touchdowns with four and also found the end zone once through the air in the Eagles’ 35-33 win over Catawba. He piled up 291 yards of total offense, a season high 104 on the ground and a season high 173 through the air.
Saturday’s game at Catawba marked his ninth career game with multiple rushing touchdowns and his fourth with three or more. With the four scores, he moves into a tie for ninth with Nate Inman on Carson-Newman’s career rushing touchdowns list with 29.
He crested the century mark on the ground for a fourth time (the Eagles are 4-0 all-time when he goes over the century mark).
His five total touchdowns match the career high five he scored (three rushing, two passing) in the Eagles’ regular season finale at Wingate last season.
